The Shared Value Africa Initiative (SVAI) is a pan-African organisation and the regional partner of the global Shared Value Initiative business network that are drawn together through a common purpose: to assist and collaborate with organisations to create Shared Value and build prosperous and sustainable economies and societies through focussing on Profit with Purpose.
Develop a risk assessment tool that will aid businesses wishing to become gender - responsive in identifying hazards within the workplace that pose a threat to the physical and psychological wellbeing of gender minority employees. In addition to hazard identification, the tool will serve as a financial guide with regards to the costs inflicted on businesses should GBV incidents within a company remain unaddressed.
The team compiled a hazard identification map with 3 broad categories (physical environment, industry, organizational) and developed a scoring system based on how risky they are for physical/psychological/structural WVH. Then made a risk assessment tool that breaks down potential costs for each type of WVH. Costs were sorted into HR, legal, reputational and operational types.
