What is Winter diiVe Remote?

diiVe Remote: JTerm 2025 is a high-impact, 3-week online internship program for students looking to explore the world of consulting, test their innovation capability and solve a challenge within a business navigating our New Normal.

How is Winter diiVe Remote structured?

Week 1: diiVers participate in our online consulting training, building virtual business & consulting skills, developing knowledge of key market trends and ensuring you can manage projects effectively in virtual teams. 

Weeks 2-3: diiVers intern remotely for a leading company based in South Africa on a focused consulting project. You’ll work in teams, gain support from external mentors, and apply your learnings from Week 1.

Who will I work for?

We partner with a range of organizations across various sectors, focusing on those that are innovative, impact-driven and do meaningful work so that you’re guaranteed an exceptional experience.

Will I be mentored?

Yes! Throughout the program, we provide diiVers with a mentor who works alongside you every step of your internship. diiVers also receive professional mentorship around consulting careers, consulting case prep and exposure to career opportunities in this fast-changing industry.

What is diiVe’s online consulting training?

Our consulting training is created for ambitious students as a crash course in the world of consulting. It covers opportunities in the industry, and an understanding of the rapid changes occurring within the industry. This training is designed to prepare you with critical virtual business and consulting skills, as well as the strategic knowledge necessary to excel in the workplace. You’ll elevate your employability. We promise.

If I participate in Winter diiVe Remote 2025, will I still be able to participate in diiVe’s Summer programs?

Sure! You’ll also have the option to state your interest in future in-person programs during the application stage; even if you participate in Winter diiVe in 2025. No pressure to apply for both now, you can always decide later.

What is the daily commitment time for Winter diiVe Remote?

For our online training, expect to dedicate +-6 hours of live sessiosn per day and additional hours collaborating with others remotely, self-guided learning, reflection and reading. Your daily internship commitment will be dependent on the company you work with, however, it’s reasonable to expect that you will work anywhere between +-8 hours per day for 5 days a week. You’ll be collaborating with a remote team on a business project for your internship site, entering the remote workspace from Day 1.

What is the Summer diiVe Remote Program?

This is a high-impact, fully remote 7-week consulting internship program featuring a 2 week consulting bootcamp and a 5 week hands-on, project-based internship. The program is an eight hour per day commitment despite being virtual.

We strategically place you in a team of peers and match you with a client. From day one, you work closely with your project mentor, who guides you as you research your client’s business challenge, ideate solutions, interview stakeholders, and deliver a final presentation over the course of five weeks.

The program mirrors the pace and expectations of a professional consulting environment. It is a deep dive into consulting, global collaboration, and team-based problem solving, designed to build future-ready skills from your work-from-home environment.

What daily time commitment should I expect while participating in the remote program?

The Summer diiVe Remote Program is an eight hour per day commitment despite being virtual.

During the first two weeks, students participate in live online consulting training for approximately six hours per day, scheduled based on time zone, with additional independent work assigned.

During weeks 3 - 7, students are online from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. EST for team meetings, client meetings, workshops, and seminars. Students complete approximately four additional hours of asynchronous work each day, focused on building presentations, meeting with stakeholders, conducting research, and analyzing data. Asynchronous work can be completed at times that suit the student while meeting deadlines.

How is the Program structured?

Weeks 1 - 2: Live online consulting training facilitated by consultants and business experts.

Weeks 3 - 7: Students work in teams and are matched with a real client. This phase includes daily team meetings, weekly training sessions and seminars, weekly client meetings, stakeholder interviews, research and analysis, and a final client presentation.

Will I get a full-time job placement when I complete the program?

No, diiVe has only Summer and Winter Internship opportunities. Throughout the program, we provide diiVers with professional coaching and exposure to career opportunities in the consulting world and beyond to help them better define their purpose and career direction. We also will have broader discussions and learning opportunities with the entire diiVe cohort to promote relationship-building, and connection. We also conduct a case study review session for those students interested in applying for the big consulting houses.

How do I apply and when is the application deadline?

Applications are now open, and will close on March 25th 2026. Apply here for our Summer 2026 program. Our applications work on a rolling basis. Please ensure you apply as early as possible, as our program is competitive and we have a limited number of spaces available each summer.

What is the diiVe Cape Town Internship Program?

The diiVe Cape Town Program is an immersive seven-week consulting internship consisting of two weeks of online consulting training followed by a five-week, hands-on, project-based internship in Cape Town.

During the first two weeks, students participate in live online consulting training for approximately six hours per day, scheduled based on time zone, with additional independent work assigned.

Students are strategically placed into teams and matched with a client. From day one of the Cape Town internship phase, students work closely with their project mentor to research the client’s business challenge, ideate solutions, interview stakeholders, and deliver a final presentation over five weeks.

The Cape Town phase runs from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. daily, offering a structured, full-time schedule that mirrors a professional consulting environment. Living and working in Cape Town alongside students from around the world adds a meaningful global experience to a fast-paced program.

Dates are 8 June – 24 July 2026 and the program fee is $5700.

Do I need a VISA for Cape Town?

Visitors from the United States, United Kingdom and most European countries do not need a VISA for South Africa if they are staying less than 90 days. The full list of passport holders exempt from requiring a VISA for South Africa, can be found here.

What does the day to day life of a Cape Town diiVer look like?

diiVe is an intensive full time commitment. We highly discourage students from participating in multiple opportunities/internships/programs. For our consulting training, you’ll complete this remotely and you should expect to dedicate +-6 hours of live sessions per day, split into two 3-hour workshops, with a few additional hours on self-guided learning, reflection and reading.

At the end of week 2 you will then fly to Cape Town and move into diiVe housing with your fellow diiVers. For the 5-week internship you can expect to work an 8 hour day (9am - 5pm SAST), in our HQ, with visits to your client for meetings and presentations. Your evenings and weekends are your own! We will organize some diiVentures for the weekends, or after work drinks. All activities are recommended but remain optional.

Where will I stay in Cape Town?

You’ll stay in fully furnished lodging in the heart of the city centre, one of Cape Town’s most vibrant and creative districts. With cafés, bars, restaurants, and cultural hotspots right on your doorstep, you’ll be just a short trip  from some of the city’s best food, lifestyle, and experiences.

Housing is included in the program fee. All diiVers live together in shared rooms.

Is Cape Town safe?

Like most global cities, Cape Town is not without safety concerns, however it is important to put the socio-economic context of Cape Town into perspective as diiVers will be living and working in some of the most affluent and safest parts of the city. Nonetheless, we encourage our diiVers to practice a sensible level of vigilance and common sense and be sure to lean on the diiVe team for any queries or concerns as our 24/7 support is in place to ensure you have a safe yet epic experience. 

Where will I work in Cape Town?

Our offices are a co-working space called Workshop17, at the Watershed, located at the V&A Waterfront in Cape Town.

Why is this an unpaid internship?

diiVe is an education program before all else, with a training program before the internship starts. You are taught by experienced consultants from across the world. Training continues during the internship with ongoing internship training, seminars, and mentoring from the diiVe team. This is not a regular internship, but a guided training experience with real world impact.

I only speak English, is this OK?

Absolutely. The entire program is instructed in English. Also the majority of South Africans speak English, even if it’s not their first language.

What are the diiVe COVID protocols?

What currency is used in South Africa?

The South African Rand. You can buy currency in advance, and make sure you have a credit or debit card that you can access overseas. You will need to inform your bank in advance that you will be using your card in South Africa.

What transport would I use to get around Cape Town?

Cape Town has a great bus service called the MyCiti which is super safe, efficient and affordable. For everything else, Uber is a great option. We will arrange private transportation for diiVentures.

What should I pack?

A packing list will be sent closer to your departure date.

Is there high speed internet in South Africa?

Yes, you will have high speed internet in your office and apartment. Most coffee shops too!

Can I drink the water in South Africa?

Yes, South African tap water is safe to drink.

What will the weather be like in Cape Town in June - August?

This is Cape Town’s winter season. There will be some wind and rain, with an average daily low temperature of 45 Fahrenheit and average daily high of 65. Cape Town winters are fairly bright and sunny most of the time however, even if cool.

Will I get a reference letter from my internship client?

Yes, your client will write the team a reference letter.

What should I budget for my weekly expenses in Cape Town?

Will someone pick me up from the airport?

A member of the diiVe team will meet you for pickup at the airport, and will return you to the airport at the end of your program.

Are there any health concerns I should be aware of?

There is no malaria in Cape Town, and the tap water is safe to drink. There is no yellow fever vaccination requirement either, but we recommend you are up to date with all regular vaccinations.

When should I book my flight?

All diiVers must arrive in Cape Town on June 19th. Students should book flights that land on this date to ensure they are present for orientation and the official start of the Cape Town internship phase.

All students must depart on July 25th or July 26th, as student accommodation closes on July 26th. Departure flights should be scheduled accordingly.

We recommend booking flights as early as possible to secure the best rates. Coordinating flights with other diiVers may also be possible. Please contact us to check whether other students are traveling from your city.

Will I need travel insurance?

Yes, you will need travel insurance, medical and for possessions. We recommend Allianz.

Can my parents come visit me?

Your family is welcome to visit! Just remember though, you will still be required to work a full working week, during their stay.

How do I apply?

Kick-starting your journey with us begins with you completing our simple application form found here . We recommend you carve out 1 hour in order to adequately complete this application form. The diiVe team will review your online application and then request a 30-minute interview, after which successful applicants will be notified and offered a space on the program.

Who should apply to diiVe?

We encourage a diversity of years, majors and interests to apply to our program to add to the richness of the conversations and learning of the broader cohort. No previous consulting experience is required. 

We are looking for a select group of ambitious, aspirational leaders who:

  • are currently enrolled at university or are a recent graduate (from any major or discipline)
  • are high performing students 
  • want to develop their consulting, business and entrepreneurial skills
  • possess a keen interest in community development or social impact
  • have already demonstrated themselves as a young leaders in their community, university, country or organization (e.g. club, forum, committee)
